A-Mei Tea House (Inspiration behind Spirited Away)
Sky Lanterns were released originally from the town of PingXi to let others know the Town is safe from burglaries and diseases. Nowadays the lanterns are typically designed with wishes and drawings and released into the sky for good luck for the upcoming year.
Two Leaves and a Bud
Not only is Alishan known for its hand-rolled high mountain tea leaves that are unique for its health benefits such as relieving stress, accelerating your metabolism, and lowering your cholesterol, but also for its unique shape, hence its name: two leaves and a bud.
Alishan Cloud Sea
This natural phenomenon, known as the “sea of clouds” and considered as three of the five Wonders of Alishan (sunrise, sunset, and cloud sea/cloud waterfall). This extraordinary change in the sky consists of a veil of fog that rolls in like waterfall during dawn due to the dramatic weather changes and unstable airflow through the mountains at such high altitudes often creating beautiful moments in life.
Three Generations Tree
Another phenomenon given to us by nature. This tree can be seen as a symbol of continuous life, where the first generation seemingly assumed to be dead, gave life and nutrients to the second generation 250 years after it has wilted. The latter then ran its course of life and hallowed out, giving life to the current third generation 300 years later. Similar to how our traditions and cultures are passed on through the generations, from our kids to our grandkids.
